The year at UIS, thus far, has been really difficult for me. I am from Chicago which is a large city, and I am not used to the quiet and "non-bustling" activity here in Springfield. As far as the classes I've had to take so far, I've been surprisingly disappointed. I was expecting classes much more entertaining and challenging, but so far I've been disinterested and a little bored. However, during the last CAP class "Who Am I?" there were many interesting class discussions that we had. It made me a little excited for the next chapter in the CAP journey, if you will.
The novels we read in the CAP class were interesting to read, but the first book for this sememster, Nobody Knows My Name, by James Baldwin, has yet to capture my interest. I hope that the class will be as interesting, if not more so, than last semesters CAP class.

I like beiing on campus. It is really a good experience but it has been hard for me to adjust. Now to get this book that we are reading in Cap 123.....what is there to say what have read i dont like. This book makes me feel uncomfortable. I dont like it one bit......but that doesnt matter because i still have to read it!!!! Oh well other than that everything has been good! i guess i hope this class is hard to focus but i am hoping there is something more fun to do in this class!
ReplyDeleteWe can learn from our discomfort if we think more about what it is that is making us uncomfortable. What do you think that is? For starters, not everything is supposed to be fun and entertaining, but it can be if you put forth some effort to make it fun! I happen to find abstract thinking to be a lot of fun--or I never would have become a professor. Does any of what Baldwin is saying apply to Chicago?
